Rochdale’s Hampton by Hilton Hotel is marking a year since its opening in the heart of Rochdale town centre.

It’s been an impressive year for the hotel, which recently topped the national customer satisfaction rankings for the brand, coming first for guest satisfaction out of 57 Hampton by Hilton hotels in the UK and Ireland.

The 146 room hotel, which is the global brand’s first offering in Rochdale, is already proving to be a popular addition to the growing town centre, honouring well over 40,000 stays since opening.
The hotel has welcomed guests from as far afield as Australia and Columbia and has benefitted from Rochdale’s prime location, with visitor stays frequently jumping during major events in Manchester city centre. A Manchester City football game in late August bumped the hotel’s occupancy to 97.9 per cent, while concerts at Co-op live, including Elbow and the Black Keys, led to the hotel being more than 96 per cent full on two mid-week dates in May.

It also boasts excellent feedback across the major review sites, scoring 9.4 on expedia (exceptional), 4.6 on google (excellent) and 9 on booking.com (superb).

Councillor Danny Meredith, cabinet member for housing and regeneration at Rochdale Borough Council, said: “I’m delighted that the Hampton by Hilton has enjoyed such a successful first year. The quality of the offer has seen it attract thousands of people visiting our borough for both business and leisure stays to their venue and they fully deserve all the plaudits.

“Having a thriving hotel like the Hampton by Hilton is a huge boost to Rochdale centre, as it makes it easier for visitors to come and enjoy everything the area has to offer and support other local businesses like restaurants, bars and shops. In turn, Rochdale’s fantastic events programme, like the Feel Good Festival, which brought in over 12,000 people, and Street Eat, helps contribute to the continuing success of the hotel.”

Hotel manager, Ashleigh Thompson, said: “Our first year has been more successful than we could have hoped for. The number of visitor stays, in addition to the fantastic feedback we’ve received, demonstrates that there was a real appetite for our offer and I’m pleased we’ve so firmly established ourselves on the Rochdale map.

“The Rochdale community has been incredibly welcoming and we’ve made some great connections with organisations and businesses across the area, which will benefit everybody, including offering discounts to couples who get married at the recently renovated Rochdale Town Hall. In addition, almost 80 per cent of our 42 strong staff team are from the Rochdale borough and many of them have really excelled and already been promoted.”

The hotel’s success rounds off a strong year for the town centre’s leisure scene, which also saw the Grade I listed Rochdale Town Hall reopen after a major restoration with extended opening times and a busy, regular events programme. The town hall’s brand new restaurant, The Martlet Kitchen, has also opened, offering an array of different food and drink options, including a premium fine dining offer, which is served on Friday and Saturday nights. In addition, Museum and Art Gallery, Touchstones Rochdale, will reopen in Rochdale town centre in 2025, following a multi-million pound, Arts Council supported revamp.
